Stroke Awareness at Nubian Jam

Providence Everett returned to Nubian Jam July 29th, hosted by the Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee

Providence Everett returned to Nubian Jam July 29th , hosted by the Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee, aiming to help members of the African American Community learn how to spot a stroke, what to do if a stroke is suspected, and how to prevent having a stroke. We taught over 200 people ages 6 to 86 about stoke awareness and how people of color (everything else being equal) face twice the risk of having a stroke as Caucasians, making increase vigilance and proactive stroke risk factor modifications are so critical to this community. A big thank you to our volunteers and Pac-Med, who provided blood pressure checks for this event. We’re looking forward to participating in next year’s Nubian Jam!
