June 20, 2023 marked the 22nd annual World Refugee Day. World Refugee Day is observed every year on June 20th to celebrate and honor refugees from all over the world, drawing the attention of the public to millions of refugees and displaced people from around the world that have been forced to flee their homes due to war, conflict, and persecution. World Refugee Day was celebrated in Snohomish County at the Jackson Conference Center at Everett Community College. Festivities included traditional songs, dances, and a fashion show, words of inspiration and hope, delicious food and drink representing several diverse nationalities and cultures in addition to an official proclamation from Snohomish County Executive, Dave Somers. The event brought groups of people together from all over the world and the rooms were filled with stories, laughter, and new friendships to last for many years to come.
