MLK Day

Snohomish Black Heritage Committee

The PIHC Team participated in the MLK Celebration March and Rally Friday, Jan. 13th. Kicking things off, Pastor Alan Dorway led everyone into an opening prayer, followed by singing of songs from JaQyrie Wheeler JaQuan Summers, for all to hear.  Mayor Cassie Franklin City of Everett, Dr. Ian Saltzman Superintendent of Everett Public Schools, and Mayor Linda Redmon City of Snohomish shared expressions of gratitude. From there, folks marched from Everett Stadium to the Carl Gibson Center.

Once everyone was gathered at the Carl Gibson Center, resource tables from local community partners were set up providing information and community resources, along with several speeches led by local community leaders. Numerous folks were in attendance, and it was wonderful seeing community coming together and connecting, highlighting Dr. Martin Luther King Junior and his many calls to action, including the importance of service and volunteerism.
