Carl Gipson Senior Resource Fair

We had a great time at this year's Carl Gipson Senior Resource Fair!

Providence Stroke Services and Providence Institute for a Healthier Community, along with UW-Bothell Fieldwork students, were all in attendance for the Carl Gipson Senior Resource Fair. This event captured a wide variety of Community-Based organizations sharing information about their services, tailored to the senior community. Access to community well-being resources using Providence Institute for a Healthier Community (PIHC) Snohomish County Resource Hub was promoted throughout this event. With May being recognized as Stroke Awareness month information was shared for recognizing the signs and symptoms of a stroke, including B.E.F.A.S.T. – B – Balance: Watch for sudden loss of balance, E – Eyes: Check for vision loss, F – Face: Look for an uneven smile, A – Arm: Check if one arm is weak, S – Speech: Listen for slurred speech, T – Time: Call 9-1-1 right away. When it comes to stroke, time matters and immediate action can help prevent brain damage and long-term disability.
