Carl Gipson Senior Resource Fair

We had a great time at this year's Carl Gipson Senior Resource Fair!

Providence Stroke Services and Providence Institute for a Healthier Community, along with UW-Bothell Fieldwork students, were all in attendance for the Carl Gipson Senior Resource Fair. This event captured a wide variety of Community-Based organizations sharing information about their services, tailored to the senior community. Access to community well-being resources using Providence Institute for a Healthier Community (PIHC) Snohomish County Resource Hub www.livewelllocal.org was promoted throughout this event. With May being recognized as Stroke Awareness month information was shared for recognizing the signs and symptoms of a stroke, including B.E.F.A.S.T. – B – Balance: Watch for sudden loss of balance, E – Eyes: Check for vision loss, F – Face: Look for an uneven smile, A – Arm: Check if one arm is weak, S – Speech: Listen for slurred speech, T – Time: Call 9-1-1 right away. When it comes to stroke, time matters and immediate action can help prevent brain damage and long-term disability.
