Purpose and meaning emerged as the third most influential factor in our county’s overall well-being score for 2024, with financial security following closely behind. Notably, both indicators rose in rank compared to the previous year.
The data reveals that a strong sense of purpose and meaning is deeply connected to several key aspects of well-being, including mental and emotional health, job satisfaction, relationship quality, and a sense of belonging within the community. These connections are further reinforced by higher ratings in the importance of religion and spirituality.
Meanwhile, financial security shows a strong correlation with the ability to meet essential needs—such as access to food, housing, transportation, and personal safety—as well as satisfaction with one’s job and physical health.
These insights show that enhancing purpose and meaning can uplift multiple well-being domains and improving financial security supports both stability and health. Both areas of well-being are interconnected and essential for a thriving community.
