Providence Swedish Caregivers were in attendance yesterday at Woodside Elementary’s annual Family Health & Fitness Night. Our Trauma Injury Prevention department shared information about the importance of Stop the Bleed and upcoming webinar for BE SMART. Providence Institute for a Healthier Community (PIHC) shared with kids and familieshealth education nutrition information- Seasons of Eating, handouts for our resource hub and where to access resources- www.livewelllocal.org. Students played a fun trivia game motivating them to eat more fruits and vegetables and participated in a jump rope activity encouraging movement and physical activity.
Community partners were asked to provide a simple sports game or engaging activity for students to take part in at each table station. Students and parents moved from station-to-station gathering information and handouts and received a passport stamp. After visiting each station, students and parents completed their passport to be entered in a drawing, with raffle prizes including five bicycles, and several other prizes. A complimentary spaghetti dinner was prepared for the first 300 guests during the evening, and a dessert truck was onsite, Sugar + Spoon!
A big thanks to Craig Langley and all the staff and volunteers from Woodside Elementary. This was a well-turned-out event with excellent weather, thank you!
