ProvidenceSwedish Edmonds Hospital and Providence Institute for a Healthier Community (PIHC) attended the annual Edmonds Waterfront Center Healthy Living Fair, Friday April 25. Gorgeous weather attributed to the success of this event, with sunny blue skies and beautiful waterfront views. Several community based organizations along with wellness based organizations attended this event, and a free lunch was provided for all attendees.
Swedish Edmonds Hospital provided blood pressure monitors to those who entered a drawing and completed a B.E. F.A.S.T. quiz testing folks’ knowledge about the signs and symptoms of stroke. Health education information for Finding Our Balance and Check for Safety – a home fall prevention checklist was discussed and given to attendees who visited the booth.
Providence Institute for a Healthier Community (PIHC) shared healthy eating information from the American Heart Association, as well as connections to LiveWellLocal.org— a community resource hub where folks can find a wide range of local health and well-being resources. PIHC had an interactive Plinko game with true or false questions related to stroke prevention, highlighting May as stroke awareness month. Giveaways including hand sanitizer, first aid kits, and sunscreen were provided to those who stopped by.
